Passing Out Cermony GME Batch - I :
The First Batch of GME Cadets Passed out of Bansilal Ramnath Agarwal Charitable Trust’s Vishwakarma Maritime Institute:
VMI celebrated the passing out of its pioneer batch of GME cadets on 17th August 2010, in its decorated campus.The chief guest Mr. B.N. Prasad, M.D. Bernhard Schulte Shipmanagement Pvt. Ltd. (India) took the guard of honor in the presence of dignitaries from shipping industry, BRACT’S institutions, and well wishers. This was followed by inspection of the platoons and lighting of the traditional lamp. Our Director, Prof. B.B. Chandakkar welcomed the chief guest and other BSM dignitaries by offering floral bouquets.
Mr. Bharat Agarwal, Managing Director of VMI, welcomed the gathering and briefed the audience on BRACT foundation. He also mentioned about its founder Sri. Rajkumar Agarwal, under whose dynamic leadership, BRACT has been successful in establishing a group of leading institutes in Pune.
Prof. B.B. Chandakkar, Director VMI, welcomed everyone in his speech and presented the course report. An Ex- DMET engineer with vast experience in the shipping industry, he acknowledged the cooperation and active participation of VMI’s business partner Bernhard Schulte Shipmanagement (BSM). He gave a detailed account of the progress of the cadets during the course and mentioned VMI’s future plans to start DNS and other courses.
Gold medals are instituted to honor the high performers in "Academics" as well as "Overall Proficiency" by VMI and BSM respectively.
These awards are essential in the making of a very well tuned out Merchant Marine Officer. Gold medals were presented to the high achievers as follows:
1. Gold medal for Best Engineering Cadet in academics was awarded to – Cadet Tejindar Singh. This award was presented by Mr. Rajkumar Agarwal, Chairman of VMI.2.Gold medal for Best Engineering Cadet in overall proficiency went to – Cadet Praveen Prasad. This award was sponsored by BSM and presented by Mr. B. N. Prasad, the chief guest.
The chief guest Mr. B. N. Prasad, in his address to the audience congratulated the management of VMI and the cadets on successful completion of the course. He recalled his long association with this initiative and was happy to see the first batch passing out. He had a word of advice to the cadets where he added, "Pure work will result in Pure results". Sincerity and hard work is immensely valued onboard and is critical for successful shipboard operations.
This was followed by a vote of thanks by Mr. Yogesh Joshi, Course in Charge.
All the forty cadet passed out will be placed on different ships managed by Bernhard Schulte Shipmanagement Ltd.(BSM).
The memorable evening ended with a high tea.
