Passing Out Cermony GME Batch - II :

Pune, September 26 :-The passing out parade ceremony of 2nd Graduate Marine Engineers (GME) batch of 38 cadets was conducted at VMI premises, Laxmi Nagar Kondhwa (Bk), Pune-411048, Mr. BN Prasad, Managing Director of M/s. Bernhard Schulte Shipmanagement (India) Pvt. Ltd. (BSM) & other guests welcomed with bouquets by Mr. Bharat Agarwal, Managing Director Bansilal Ramnath Agarwal Charitable Trust (BRACT).   Mr. BN Prasad took the salute of guard of honor on the occasion. He took a round with the officers and inspected the parade. Prof BB Chandakkar, Director VMI welcomed the dignitaries & presented the annual report and informed about the activities carried out during the training of the cadets. He informed about the future plans of the institute. VMI is ISO 9001:2008 certified & benchmarked by CRISIL “Very Good” for quality education.  He informed the august gathering about the commencement of Diploma in Nautical Science (DNS) course from Aug 2001 & the next batch of 40 DNS cadets   from Feb 2012.  He thanked the BSM & Administration for supporting the new initiatives.

The gold medals are instituted to honor the high performers in the field of “Academics” as well as “Overall Proficiency” by VMI and BSM respectively.  These awards are essentials in the making of a very well turned out Merchant Marine Officer.

1.The gold medal for Best Engineering Cadet in academics was awarded to  – Cadet Amandeep Singh. This award was presented by Mr. Bharat Agarwal,     MD, Bansilal Ramnath Agarwal Charitable Trust (BRACT)

2.The gold medal for Best BSM Cadet in overall proficiency went to Cadet Kinny Benven Pascoal. This award was sponsored by BSM and Mr. B.N. Prasad presented it.

Congratulating the new batches of the cadets, the Mr. Bharat Agarwal, Managing Director Bansilal Ramnath Agarwal Charitable Trust (BRACT) said that the association of VMI & BSM is unique example in the industry & it has no parallels even in the leading industry like IT industry which is in boom. He asserted the commitment of BSM & VMI which has lead to a good product & confirmed BRACT’s commitment to the same.  

Congratulating the cadets, Mr. Ravi Budhraja, Director Training of M/s. Bernhard Schulte Shipmanagement (India) Pvt. Ltd. (BSM) said that the best skilled manpower in the world is considered to be the Indian officers. Keep the learnt value & knowledge & convert it into good engineers for self, Institute, Company & for the country.

 Mr. SB Mantri, Vice Chairman VMI said that cadets are the ambassador of the country. The hard work, enthusiasm good behavior, commitment will lead to a better career  AS A mariner . He announced the newly set up staff & faculty awards which were given to 4 best employees in different categories for their contribution to the institute. This moral booster will help the staff to keep up the good work at VMI. He discussed in detail a new PA system at VMI & emphases that it works efficiently.
The chief guest in his address to the audience started off with congratulating the cadets for their passing out from VMI & asserted it is a humble & noble profession to join sea . The 90% of the Indian trade is being carried out by sea & it in an adventures journey of life; It is the most popular profession of society. Presently there is a dearth of good officers & this association of BSM & VMI will produce a good product. He further asserted that good ethics, good moral character has set a good value in life. As on today BSM managing 700 ships round the globe. Sea career is a different task. It is like brass which needs to be polished from time to time similarly life throws up challenges which we have to face & brings out best in us.  
This was followed by vote of thanks by Course in Charge Mr. Yogesh Joshi.
The memorable evening ended with a high tea.
