Pune, Apr 23 :-The Passing Out Parade ceremony of 2nd Batch of Diploma in Nautical Science (DNS) & 4th Batch of Graduate Marine Engineering Cadets of 55 cadets was conducted at VMI premises, Kondhwa (Bk), Pune-411048, Capt. Swapan Paul, Director, BSM CSC India & other guests were welcomed with bouquets by Prof. BB Chandakkar, Director VMI.   Capt. Swapan Paul took the Guard of honor on the occasion. He took a round with the officers and inspected the parade. Prof. BB Chandakkar, Director VMI welcomed the dignitaries. Captain Ashish Kaushik & Mr. Mohan Prasad presented the annual reports and informed about the activities carried out during the training of the cadets.

Prof. BB Chandakkar informed about the future plans of the institute. VMI is ISO 9001:2008 certified by IRQS & benchmarked by CRISIL as “Very Good” for quality education.  He informed the gathering about the commencement of 4 years B.Tech (Marine Engineering).  He thanked BSM & Administration for supporting the new initiatives.

The gold medals are instituted to honor the high performers in the field of “Academics” as well as “Overall Proficiency” by VMI and BSM respectively.  These awards are essentials in the making of a very well turned out Merchant Marine Officer.

  1. The Gold Medal for Best Deck Cadet & Best Engg. Cadet in academics were awarded to – Cadet Pratush Bahukhandi & Cadet Atul Dhanawade respectively. This award were presented by Chief Guest.
  2. The Gold Medal for Best BSM Cadet & Best Engg. Cadet in overall proficiency went to Cade Chirag Batliwala & Cadet Vivek Kumar Singh respectively. This award was sponsored by BSM and Mr. Brijendra Srivastava, General Manager, BSM presented it.

 Congratulating the cadets, Mr. Brijendra Srivastava, General Manager, BSM, India asserted right attitude with Indian Guru Shishya tradition will lead to learn a lot more on board. The association is an inspiring force towards driving a long journey. It is the people who make the team. Strength lies in the quality of the people.

The Chief Guest in his address started with Future Captains & Chief Engineers. Good work always appreciated. This is beginning of your career. Grow up to face the hardship, this generation needs to guide & set themselves high for next generation. We Indians left Europeans & British far behind due to hard work & dedication.

The memorable evening ended with a high tea.
